Not sure you're in the right place? This page is for 10ft cantilever (offset/side-post) umbrellas with 8 ribs. If your umbrella has a center pole, you need a Market Patio canopy instead. If your cantilever is a different size, see the full size guide below.

Step 1 — Identify Your Type
Hanging vs. Supported Bar — Which Do You Have?

10ft cantilever canopies come in two distinct styles. The ribs on your umbrella tell you which type you need — look at where the ribs connect at the top of the canopy.

Hanging Style
Cantilever Hanging Umbrella Canopy
On a hanging-style cantilever, the ribs arc downward from a central hub at the very top and the canopy hangs freely — there is no bar running across underneath. The canopy is attached only at the rib tips and the top center.
  • Ribs meet at a single hub at the very top center
  • No support bar visible running under the canopy
  • Canopy hangs freely, creating a smooth curved shade
  • Most common style on residential offset umbrellas

Supported Bar Style

On a supported bar (also called a "cross bar" or "spreader bar") cantilever, there is a rigid bar running horizontally underneath the canopy. The ribs connect to this bar rather than meeting at a single top hub.
  • A visible support bar runs across the underside of the canopy
  • Ribs connect to the bar, not a top center hub
  • Often found on heavier-duty or commercial-grade umbrellas
  • The bar helps the canopy maintain its flat or slightly domed shape

Step 2 — Confirm Your Size
How to Measure Your Canopy

Before ordering, confirm your umbrella is a 10ft model and has 8 ribs. Here's how to check both.

1

Count the Ribs

Look up at the underside of your open umbrella and count the metal spokes (ribs) radiating outward from the center. This page is for umbrellas with exactly 8 ribs. If you count 6 ribs, see our 9ft 6-rib collection.

2

Measure a Single Rib

With the umbrella open, measure one rib from the center hub to the tip. A 10ft canopy rib will be approximately 58–60 inches long. If your rib measures significantly shorter or longer, check our other size options below.

3

Identify Hanging vs. Supported Bar

Look underneath the open canopy. If you see a bar or rod running across the underside, you have a Supported Bar style. If the ribs simply meet at a central hub at the top with nothing below, you have a Hanging style.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
A cantilever (also called offset or side-post) umbrella has its pole on the side — the canopy extends out to the side or over a seating area without a post in the middle. A market patio umbrella has the pole running through the center of the canopy, usually through a hole in a table. If you can sit directly under the center of your umbrella without the pole being in the way, it's almost certainly cantilever.
On a Hanging style umbrella, all 8 ribs radiate from a single hub at the very top, and the canopy hangs naturally with no additional support underneath. On a Supported Bar style, there is a horizontal bar or spreader bar running underneath the canopy that the ribs connect to. The canopies are designed differently and are not interchangeable — ordering the wrong type means the canopy will not attach properly to your frame.
Yes — that's exactly what replacement canopies are for. As long as your frame and ribs are in good working condition, a replacement canopy is a cost-effective way to refresh your umbrella without replacing the entire unit. Make sure you match the size (10ft), rib count (8), and style (Hanging or Supported Bar) of your original canopy.
The canopy attaches at each rib tip using velcro straps, ties, or pockets (depending on the product) and at the top hub or support bar. All of our canopies come with the necessary attachment hardware. The process typically takes 15–30 minutes and requires no tools.
Our standard canopies are made from 300-denier polyester — approximately 50% heavier than the thin fabric found on most off-the-shelf umbrellas — with UV treatment that blocks 96%–98% of UV rays and a water-resistant coating. The Capri Blue Olefin option uses solution-dyed Olefin fabric, which is even more fade-resistant and better suited for high-sun environments and long-term outdoor use. Both options are built to outlast standard replacement canopies.
Open your umbrella fully and look up from underneath. Count each metal spoke (rib) radiating outward from the center — make sure you count every single one all the way around. Most 10ft cantilever umbrellas have 8 ribs. If yours has 6, see our 9ft 6-rib collection instead. Still unsure? Contact us with a photo and we'll confirm.
